Group lists with views
Show containers, images, volumes, networks and backups as a list or grouped by stack, image, driver, resource type or host. Collapsed groups, paging and selection explained.
Since Containly 2.6.0 every resource list has a View dropdown in its toolbar, next to Sort and Per page. It shows the same resources either as a plain list or in groups, so a host with many stacks stays easy to scan. Grouping only changes how the list looks; it does not change anything on your Docker hosts.
Choose a view
Open the list (for example Containers), open View in the toolbar and pick a grouping. On phones the dropdown shows only its icon and the current value, so View, Sort and Per page fit on one row. These views exist per page:
| Page | Views |
|---|---|
| Containers | List, Stack, Host |
| Images | List, Images, Stack, Host |
| Volumes | List, Stack, Host |
| Networks | List, Stack, Driver, Host |
| Backups (overview) | List, Stack, Resource type, Host |
Host is offered only when All hosts is selected and more than one host is connected. When you switch from All hosts to a single host while Host is chosen, the list falls back to List.
Your choice is remembered per page in this browser: Containers can stay grouped by stack while Images stay a plain list. Another browser or device starts with List.
Groups by stack
Stack groups by Compose project. Membership comes from the real Compose labels and, for images, volumes and networks, from the containers that use them, never from similar names. Containers without a Compose project land in the No stack group. On Images, Volumes and Networks a resource that nothing uses goes to Unused. These special groups are always listed last.
Identical stack names on different hosts never merge: web on two hosts is two groups. A resource that several stacks share (for example a network) appears under each of those stacks.
Images grouped by image
Images puts all tags and versions of a repository into one group, for example every postgres tag. Images from different registries stay separate. Under All hosts each repository is one group across all hosts (alpine on five hosts is one group, and the header says on how many hosts it is), and every row names its host. The images themselves stay separate per host: removing a row removes that image on that host only.
Groups start collapsed
Since Containly 2.6.1 every group starts closed and shows only its header with the counts (for example the number of images and their size). Click a header to open the group and see its rows. Which groups you opened is not saved: after reloading the page all groups are closed again.
Paging, selection and keyboard
While a list is grouped, Per page counts groups, not rows, so one page is a compact overview of up to that many groups. An opened group always shows all of its rows.
Select all on this page and keyboard navigation only reach rows of opened groups. A resource that appears under several stacks is still selected and counted once (per host), so a bulk action never runs twice on it.
